Afsheen Afzal is the owner of Family Child Care Dublin. Born in Pakistan, Afsheen has always been passionate about helping others and teaching students in different capacities, be it volunteering or paid teaching jobs to teach English Literature. She has had teaching jobs at various levels, including preschool, elementary, high school, and college students.
She came to the USA in 2006 on Fulbright scholarship to teach her native language Urdu at the Univesity of Chicago, Illinois. After a few years, she got married and moved to California, where she took a single subject teaching credential in English and worked as a substitute teacher for many years in Bay Area schools.
Becoming a mother was a turning point in her teaching career when she realized she was not well versed in infant child development as she always worked with older students. Away from her home country, she struggled as a first-time mother, until she found the Montessori philosophy. Which helped her understand the behavior and needs of children. She took her Early Childhood credential from Montessori Teacher Education Center San Francisco Bay area in 2014.
She opened Family Child Care Dublin in 2015 to satisfy her desire to make a difference in the lives of infants, the most critical phase of human life, which requires tender loving care and security of being around with stable and attentive caregivers.
She loves to teach preschoolers, with a strong emphasis on child development and the novel learning abilities of all children. She lives in Dublin with her husband and two children. She spends her free time reading, writing, cooking for family and friends, and traveling around the world.
